Solutions:

I challenge you to reimagine an empty parking space, vacant lot, or unused asphalt as a vibrant park that reduces heat island effects, boosts biodiversity, and creates a safe, fun, and welcoming space to connect, play, and thrive.

Gretchen Rabinkin

BATA Roots of Renewal

We will combat global warming and the lack of trees in urban spaces by transforming empty asphalt heavy places into greener spaces where people can commune in a healthier, cooler, and more aesthetically pleasing environment.

Bee Green

Our vision is to build sustainable gardens and eco friendly parks for neighborhoods that need them by engaging communities and bettering the environment.

School Yard for Everyone

We are transforming our school yard into a space that is fun and welcoming for everybody in our community, and that is created by the community. We believe intentionally designed space will help address climate change and improve the environment while acting as an event space, and resource hub for homeless youth.

The Brighton BUGS

To create a space at Brighton High School where students can feel a sense of community while also learning to support and grow their own skills and hobbies.

Project White-Top

At Project White-Top our vision is to turn an urban space into a thriving green area where people can come together, have fun, connect with nature, and improve lives in our community. We believe that with sustainable solutions and community collaboration, we can create a space that makes both the environment and society flourish by implementing a white-top basketball court because white reflects heat rather than absorbs it. In theory, it will reduce the heat island effect and create a cooler space for players, setting the bar for hopefully many basketball courts to come creating a sense of awareness about the heat island effect in the process.

I challenge you to design an innovative approach that empowers young people to counteract social media messages that glamorize or encourage substance use.

Sub the Sub

Through innovative art-based initiatives, we’ll inspire young people to see that there are countless ways to have fun, express themselves, and cope with life's challenges—without turning to substances. Our solution is to reframe the idea of "cool" by celebrating and elevating drug-free lifestyles and emotional resilience.

We challenge you to develop an intergenerational initiative that creates pathways for young people to gain early access and exposure to post-secondary resources and opportunities.

Rising To Success

Our vision is seeing students having the knowledge and option to choose what they want to do after high school and giving them the opportunity to make their dreams come true.

Bridge Forward Bostons

We envision a future wherein all young people know what they want to do in their futures, and they have the ability to use such knowledge to consistently and dependably connect themselves with high-quality post-secondary experiences and opportunities, provided to them at no cost.

I challenge you to produce a media campaign that will raise awareness on the gun violence epidemic and empower youth around the country to take action in creating safer schools and communities.

Manuel Oliver

UNITY (Uplifting Neighborhoods and Inspiring Tomorrow’s Youth)

To inspire resilience and positivity, keeping hope alive in every challenge, and empowering individuals to believe in brighter possibilities for a better tomorrow.

BOSS

Our mission is not to create but to collaborate and make this solution happen. We feel that sometimes when we innovate things fall apart and if you don’t have the proper foundation or partnership, it will fall apart. This is a very sensitive issue that it’s not about innovation it’s about working towards this safety for our community.

Excel Through YOU (Your Own Uprising)

Excel Through Y.O.U. believes that everyone should call home a place that is safe. We want to break the barriers that leave our community in a cycle of fear and violence because it starts with Y.O.U. (Your Own Uprising).

I challenge you to design a solution that addresses homelessness among high school students and young adults in your community, and emphasizes the importance of stabilizing their access to education and academic performance.

Dr. Brandy Brooks

The Lyon Collective (TLC)

The Lyon Collective's mission is to inspire compassionate advocates for individuals experiencing homelessness by raising awareness, destigmatizing the issue, and providing accessible resources. Together, we empower students to be change-makers in our community.

H.U.G. (Hug, United, Grow)

Our vision is for every CHS student and family to know what resources are available to them if they face the challenge of experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, and to feel empowered to be able to access those resources.

Bridges to Tomorrow

Our vision is to lighten the burden of homelessness because we know we can't end it but reduce it and make people who are homeless feel comfortable as much as possible.

Streetlight

We envision a future where every young person has a safe, supportive space to turn to—day or night—ensuring that no student facing homelessness feels alone, unheard, or without a path forward.

The Neighborhood

Our vision for The Neighborhood is to enlighten our community by spreading awareness to young adults affected by homelessness through a pathway of education.
