Partner Cities

The Aspen Challenge strives to build future generations of engaged and equitable leaders by providing tools and a platform for young people to play critical roles in identifying, designing, and implementing solutions to their community’s biggest needs.

Each year the Aspen Institute partners with school districts around the country to engage, inspire, and challenge our nation’s youth. Throughout the first two years in each location, the Aspen Challenge team builds the capacity of the partner city to have ownership in this initiative beginning in year three.

In 2026, Aspen Challenge: Detroit will launch in partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District, bringing 23 high schools from Detroit together to tackle some of the toughest issues our communities face. Boston Public Schools will be back for its second year with 15 new high schools taking on the challenge.
