Imani Foster

Communications Lead, 482Forward

Partner Cities

  • Detroit 2026

Imani Foster is a native Detroiter beginning her career in activism when she was 16 years old, fighting for education justice. She is a graduate of Renaissance High School, and furthered her education at Northwestern University. Foster graduated with a double-major bachelor’s degree in African American studies and journalism. Her commitment to focusing on creating and amplifying Black stories led her to 482Forward, an education justice organization. She also is the founder of H.E.Y Black Girl Detroit, a program that provides healing, empowerment and yoga to Black girls from the ages of seven and older. Foster supports many other initiatives and projects that invest in supporting and developing Detroit’s youth, and served as a member of Mayor Sheffield’s Rise Higher K-12 Transition Committee.
