Environment & Climate Challenges:

I challenge you to reimagine an empty parking space, vacant lot, or unused asphalt as a vibrant park that reduces heat island effects, boosts biodiversity, and creates a safe, fun, and welcoming space to connect, play, and thrive.

Gretchen Rabinkin

I challenge you to raise awareness about the impacts of sea-level rise in your community and create strategies that build consensus around solutions that balance the needs of humans and habitats.

I challenge you to inspire your community to habitually use fewer single-use plastics in order to keep trash out of our ocean ecosystems.

Environment & Climate Solutions:

Gretchen Rabinkin

BATA Roots of Renewal

We will combat global warming and the lack of trees in urban spaces by transforming empty asphalt heavy places into greener spaces where people can commune in a healthier, cooler, and more aesthetically pleasing environment.

Bee Green

Our vision is to build sustainable gardens and eco friendly parks for neighborhoods that need them by engaging communities and bettering the environment.

School Yard for Everyone

We are transforming our school yard into a space that is fun and welcoming for everybody in our community, and that is created by the community. We believe intentionally designed space will help address climate change and improve the environment while acting as an event space, and resource hub for homeless youth.

The Brighton BUGS

To create a space at Brighton High School where students can feel a sense of community while also learning to support and grow their own skills and hobbies.

Project White-Top

At Project White-Top our vision is to turn an urban space into a thriving green area where people can come together, have fun, connect with nature, and improve lives in our community. We believe that with sustainable solutions and community collaboration, we can create a space that makes both the environment and society flourish by implementing a white-top basketball court because white reflects heat rather than absorbs it. In theory, it will reduce the heat island effect and create a cooler space for players, setting the bar for hopefully many basketball courts to come creating a sense of awareness about the heat island effect in the process.

I challenge you to raise awareness about the impacts of sea-level rise in your community and create strategies that build consensus around solutions that balance the needs of humans and habitats.

Alex Ferron

Project Blue Horizons

We want to see people throughout our local communities taking action thanks to their new-found knowledge about the sea level rise crises, additionally they will be generating solutions and will not be in constant argument for what solution will work best.

Project RISE

Raise awareness, inspire actions, strengthen community, and empower long-term solutions.

I challenge you to inspire your community to habitually use fewer single-use plastics in order to keep trash out of our ocean ecosystems.

Anne Middleton

Spork

We will make our community and environment better for future generations by reducing habitual plastic use and educating our community of the environmental impacts from our daily habits.

SeaGoal

We want to spread knowledge and create excitement about limiting the use of single-use plastics in our San Diego community through an application for both IOS and Android designed for all ages.

I challenge you to create and distribute affordable, accessible resources that incorporate intergenerational knowledge to prepare frontline communities for the impact of climate change.

Elizabeth Yeampierre

Living Labs

We envision a future where we will fight back against climate injustice and food insecurity by educating and empowering our neighbors to be sustainable urban farmers.

Climate Comfort Solutions

To create a community that is prepared to protect themselves in the face of climate disaster.

Planet of Colors

Our group, "Planet of Colors" envisions a world where we tackle climate change and systemic racism by fostering the health and wellness of our community.

I challenge you to create a sustainable program that challenges your community’s behaviors to help alleviate the issue of rats in New York City.

Kathleen Corradi

Brooklyn Eraticators

We will educate community members and local businesses to understand the rodent problem, how their behaviors contribute to the issue and inspire them to take action and change behaviors to create a cleaner and happier community, with a reduced number of rodents.

NYRPD

Fewer rats will make places more sanitary and reduce the risk of disease.

Rat Patrol

We envision influencing the behaviors of adolescents in Williamsburg Brooklyn, joining the efforts to decrease the rat population, and improving the quality of life for NYC residents.

Anti-Vermin

We will alleviate rat problems in New York City.

Project R.I.S.E

We envision a community where the environment is clean, safe, and worry free of contaminants that negatively impact the community.
