Mark Hecker, the founding executive director of Reach Incorporated, is a social worker and educator with experience in secure and community-based settings. Prior to founding Reach, Hecker worked as a teacher and a social worker in the District of Columbia’s foster care system. He was named the city’s social worker of the year, the youngest person ever so honored. His approach continues to be influenced by social work values that keep children at the center of all decisions. Hecker’s leadership of Reach Incorporated has been recognized by Fair Chance, the Jacob & Charlotte Lehrman Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the Aspen Institute. He is a graduate of Duke University, the University of North Carolina School of Social Work, and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
