Gretchen Rabinkin, AIA, Affiliate ASLA, is the Executive Director of the Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA), the Massachusetts and Maine chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. A licensed architect and educator, she works to improve everyday spaces through collaborations with leaders, organizations, and communities. At BSLA, she guides strategic direction and oversees operations, including organizing landscape architects and students in engagement initiatives, such as with Boston Green Academy, Chelsea GreenRoots, and the Friends of the East Boston Greenway.
Previously, Rabinkin led civic initiatives at Boston’s AIA chapter, coordinating community resiliency activities, leading the BSA Urban Design Workshops, and contributing to the Boston Living with Water International Design Competition. She has taught design to professional, pre-professional, and youth audiences and is currently visiting faculty in architectural studies at Amherst College. She also co-directs “The Complete City” summer design program at the University of Southern Maine.
Rabinkin serves as managing editor of BSLA’s annual Fieldbook and is the former deputy editor of ArchitectureBoston. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Smith College and a Master’s of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
