Donavan Swanson is an Education and Engagement Policy Analyst with the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office. Previously, he served as a Community School Director for both District 23 in Brooklyn and District 11 in the Bronx. Swanson is also involved in SUNY Research Foundation on Title IX Compliance and Training in New York State, providing tools and resources to campuses in over 100 languages, and facilitating Bystander Empowerment training for students. In addition, he is a former intern at the New York State Assembly and was selected for the prestigious New York State Senate Fellows program in 2017.
An East New York native, Swanson’s professional and personal experiences are rooted in a “cradle to career” approach, and he believes community members have a responsibility to leave the world better for future generations. He received his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and a master’s in Education Policy and Leadership from State University at Albany.
