Chico A. Tillmon is a program manager for Cease Fire Illinois / Cure Violence, named a top 20 NGO in 2015 by Global Geneva, and the #1 NGO focused primarily on violence prevention. In 2011, Tillmon joined CeaseFire Illinois (the program delivery partner for Cure Violence in Illinois) as a Violence Interrupter. As a believer in the power of education, he went back to school and obtained his B.A. in interdisciplinary studies from Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), his M.A. in Inner-City Studies, and is presently a Ph.D. student in the field of Criminology, Law, and Justice Studies at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). His research interest is desistance, and he applying his knowledge from Ceasefire to help create a paradigm to assist others in detouring from crime.
