Bemnet Meshesha is a social worker who currently serves as manager of community relations and strategic development at the State Fair of Texas. Passionate about equitable and sustainable community development, her experiences and interests intersect in social justice causes, primarily around race relations, access for upward mobility, and criminal justice reform. Meshesha’s thesis research work explored immigrants’ perspectives on such topics. She is a fierce advocate of collaborations, partnerships, and a collective-impact approach to producing lasting change in communities and often seeks to work in multidisciplinary networks to accomplish great initiatives. Meshesha chairs the Civic Engagement Committee in the DFW Urban League of Young Professionals. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology with minors in management and spanish from Dallas Baptist University and her master’s in social work from University of Texas at Arlington. A Dallas local, she’s originally from Ethiopia.
