Ann Marano is the college-bound advisor at Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School in Dallas. Before moving to Texas in 2009, she worked for 20 years in college-admission counseling at several secondary and post-secondary institutions. Marano currently serves on the Common Application Board of Directors and the UT Austin High School Counselor Advisory Board. She is a proud first-generation college graduate and member of ACCEPT (Admissions Community Cultivating Peace and Equity Today). The Texas Association for College Admission Counseling awarded Marano the William W. Fleming Award for excellence in college counseling in 2015. As part of the 2018 Bezos Scholars program, she continues to serve as the educator sponsor for WE FIGHT FEAR, a local ideas festival focused on immigration issues and the new voices of changemakers. Marano earned her BA in sociology and English from Mount St. Mary’s University and her MA in education-psychology from Pepperdine University.
