Shayne Evans

Shayne Evans is founder and managing partner of The Academy Group, a new enterprise designed to reduce economic disparities and serve as a human capital engine by preparing extraordinary young people from under resourced communities to own and operate successful companies nationwide. Previously, Evans was the CEO of the University of Chicago Charter School and its four campuses as well as managing director of the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute. He also co-founded and directed the UChicago Charter Woodlawn campus. Evans worked as an 8th grade mathematics teacher at the Chicago International Charter School — Bucktown campus. Evans has a master’s degree from Concordia University and a BA in Political Science and African American History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
