Jerry Schubel

JERRY SCHUBEL has been president of the Aquarium of the Pacific since 2002, where he directs the Aquatic Forum that brings together scientists, policy-makers, and stakeholders to explore alternative ways of dealing with important, complex, and often controversial environmental issues facing California and the nation. Schubel is president emeritus of the New England Aquarium, and from 1974 to 1994 was dean of Stony Brook University’s Marine Sciences Research Center. He has published more than 200 papers and several books.  He and his wife, Margaret, have written the scripts of a number of award-winning films. Throughout his career he has worked on science-management-policy  issues dealing with the coastal ocean.
