
Bret Scott is director of WSU OPEN at Wayne State University, where he uses technical, business and municipal knowledge to support economic growth in the Detroit region.
WSU OPEN is a one-stop concierge-style service that connects businesses, nonprofits and others to the university’s resources, faculty and students, spurring collaboration, learning and opportunity. Scott works to ensure that no idea presented to Wayne State goes unanswered.
In addition to this role, Scott is mayor of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan. He joined the city commission in 2013 and was elected mayor in 2021.
Scott was born in Pontiac, Michigan, is an avid automotive enthusiast with more than 40 years of experience in the automotive and data industries. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from Lawrence Technological University.
