
Anthony Barrows is the Executive Director of LIFT–NY. Previously, Barrows founded the Center for Behavioral Design & Social Justice at Project Evident, where he organized people with lived experience to build community and pursue systems change. Prior to that, he led the Economic Justice portfolio at ideas42 for nine years, using applied behavioral science to fight poverty. Barrows began his initial career in child welfare, where he worked for over a decade in positions spanning direct service, supervision, training, advocacy, and system improvement. In 2018, he was selected as an Aspen Institute Ascend Fellow for his work advancing the well-being of children and families. Barrows holds a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and art from UMass Boston, a Master of fine arts in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute, and a Master of public administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government where he was a Gleitsman Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership.
