Michael Lydon is the Co-Founder of Street Plans, an international planning, design, and research advocacy firm with offices across the United States. He is the creator of The Open Streets Project, where the goal is to share information about open streets and increase the number, size, and frequency of initiatives in North America. Along with his partner, Tony Garcia, Lydon is the recipient of the 2017 Seaside Prize and co-author of Tactical Urbanism. The latter of which was named by Planetizen as one of the top planning books of the past decade.
Previously, Lydon collaborated with Andres Duany and Jeff Speck in writing The Smart Growth Manual. Most recently he co-authored the Streets for Pandemic Response and Recovery Guide with the North American City Transportation Officials and published the Streets for Voting Guide with support from the Future Actions Network and Center for Tech and Civic Life. He resides in Brooklyn, New York.
