Patrick Young serves as the Director for the Mayor’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP). OGVP is the backbone of the city’s efforts to work with New Orleanians to create peace and prevent gun violence. Previously, he served the New Orleans Business Alliance as the Director of Training. Young managed the STRIVE work readiness training program that operated throughout four opportunity centers in the city of New Orleans, helping employ more than 890 formerly incarcerated persons in less than three years. He is the Founder and Executive Director of SharpMen, a nonprofit that helps men overcome employment barriers. He is the author of A Way Up, Economic Development Post Incarceration, which gives strategies for wealth building after a conviction. He was selected as a W.K. Kellogg Foundation Global Fellow for proven leadership to make New Orleans one of the best cities in the world.
